The Coalition Against Proposed Prisons (CAPP) and #NOPE | No Ontario Prison Expansion campaign signatories have committed to fighting any attempts by elected representatives of any political stripe to expand the use of, and capacity for, imprisonment in the province. We are also organizing with to fight for the reallocation of funds earmarked for the expansion of Ontario’s provincial jail system towards community infrastructure, services and supports that actually make us safer. As we pursue both goals, CAPP is actively working with organizations based in towns and cities directly impacted by the Ford government’s plans to build new and bigger provincial jails. Together, we are building communities, not cages.
